Everly hosts memorials for people who have died, and memorials people make for themselves in life. A memorial is created and controlled by its owners — the family, or the person it is for — not by Everly and not by any funeral provider. You may export everything you have put in a memorial at any time.
You sign in with a link sent to your email. You are responsible for that inbox. We keep server-side sessions and you can end them from your account.
Only content you have the right to share: your own photographs, recordings and words, or those you have permission to post. Do not add content about a living person presented as a memorial — unless you are that person and the memorial is your own — content that is unlawful, abusive, or that you know to be false about a real person.
Making a memorial public requires a verified email and a signed statement of your relationship to the person. We record that statement, with the date and your account, and rely on it. For a memorial you make about yourself, the statement is that you are that person and have the right to publish it. A false statement is grounds for removal and may be provided to a person harmed by it.
Everly may hide, unpublish, freeze or remove any memorial or contribution at its sole discretion, including in response to a report. We prefer to freeze rather than delete while a dispute is open, so that nothing is lost whichever way it is resolved. The dispute policy describes how we decide.
We keep two independent copies of every file, verify them on a schedule, and keep encrypted off-site backups of the database. This is a description of what we do today, not a guarantee of permanence. We will make no perpetual-care promise until it can be legally and financially backed.
We collect what is needed to run the service: your email, what you add to memorials, and the security log of who changed what and when. We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used in aggregate. We do not sell data, do not run advertising, and do not rank or recommend content. Reports and the audit log are kept as long as the memorial exists.
Owners may delete a memorial they own, subject to any open dispute. If Everly ever ceases to operate, owners will be given no less than 90 days’ notice and a full export.
